The problem

A real Indian client needed payroll that respected the full statutory maze — PF, ESIC, PT, TDS — across a mixed shop-floor and office workforce, with biometric attendance and submission-ready compliance reports.

How we built it

Two portals from one codebase (admin console + employee self-service), a three-pass salary engine mirrored on the frontend so previews always match payslips, and a locked draft→generated→approved→locked payroll lifecycle with a full audit trail.

Dual salary-rule engines — Officer (CTC-based) and Worker (hourly + OT)
Three-pass salary engine mirrored frontend/backend for exact preview parity
Biometric (DMPS) attendance with idempotent date-range sync and auto device registration
Configurable PF/ESIC ceilings, state-wise PT slabs, monthly-applied TDS slabs
Gov-format PDFs — PF/ESI/PT summaries and submission-ready Gujarat Form 5
Before/after JSON audit diffs on every entity change
